I LOVE Bulletin Boards!
They're so fun to create.
Luckily, being the art teacher,
it is assumed that I'm "creative"
and therefore I get the task of
decorating two of the bulletin boards at our school.
Last year was the first year that I had this responsibility,
but fortunately I have some lovely teacher friends
that showed me the ropes.
I learned how to get the background paper up, how to affix the border,
how to cut Cricut letters, laminate, etc., etc.
Now I'm a regular PRO. ;)
Here are a few of the boards I've decorated (with help).
Ready to Learn?
My first attempt at designing a bulletin board.
A fall theme. I got this up just in time for our fall craft fair.
The corn and crows were made by students, of course!
Olaf made an appearance... (as did the penguins).
Spring kites. Many more kites were added to it, after I took the pictures. The 3rd graders painted them with watercolors. I used 2 colors of construction paper for the grass, trimming it to look fringy.
Olaf returned one last time to end the school year and welcome summer!
I like elements that add a little texture and dimensionality, so I put puffy, cotton clouds in the sky and a spherical sun in the corner too. The "sand" is just the cork board behind. I just trimmed the blue paper in waves to give the appearance of a horizon line. Cork is the perfect sand.
The ice cream truck was my friend Amie's idea
(something she'd seen on Pinterest, of course). So cute and fun.
The students were hoping it meant they were getting ice cream on the first day of school.
No such luck.
...Ice cream scoop information board to go along with the ice cream truck.
This Peanuts board is perfect, since the new Peanuts Movie is coming out soon.
The pumpkins are 3-dimensional and the vines are strung yarn.
3rd and 4th graders designed the whimsical leaves and owls. I had envisioned the background as a yellow or something (something funky, instead of traditional blue sky with green grass). But, I was feeling lazy, so I left up the blue from a previous board, added the green grass. Then a co-worker and I created the tree trunk and branches out of twisted up, brown bulletin board paper. The staples didn't want to hold, but we got it up there. I love it!
The kids did a great job. They get excited about seeing their artwork displayed.
For me, the idea behind the saying "The Earth without Art is Just 'Eh'" makes me think of God, the creator, who gave us this beautiful, amazing, mysterious planet.
There is art everywhere we look.
